A company in England and one of its directors have been heavily fined after being convicted of selling defective motorcycle helmets following an accident in which one shattered.
The conviction applied to three different models from the brand QTech and affected the Q102, Q5005 and Q113 models.
Quads Inn, which trades under Hough Mill Developments was convicted of three counts of selling the same unsafe goods and fined a total of $30,000 with an additional $50,000 in costs.
Director Roydon Wiggins was also fined $300 with a further $50,000 costs for selling the three helmet models.
The helmets were initially reported to Cheshire East Council following a low-speed accident where one of the motorcycle helmets shattered upon impact.
This led to the affected QTech helmets being recalled in January and has subsequently led to the conviction of Mr. Wiggins and Hough Mill Developments.
The helmets have now been taken off the market.
