Iron Horse Helmets Photo Day

Do you remember elementary school? Do you remember picture day? Well, Iron Horse Helmets has our own little picture day.

Leave it to Iron Horse Helmets employees to take anything to the extreme.  John and Daniel decided to take a few selfies while the product shoot was on break.

What is wrong with this place?

Kayak Helmets

Sure, you thought that Iron Horse Helmets only sold motorcycle helmets....And so did we.

But Tony Diliberto thought differently. Tony ate a big bowl of pasta and said, "hmmmmm, I need a cool Kayak Helmet. Maybe I should turn a polo boneyard red motorcycle helmet into a kayak helmet."

So tony downed another glass of wine and went to the Iron Horse Helmets website. Two days later his new motorcycle....I mean kayak helmet arrived at his cab stand in Tennessee.

That weekend Tony made a splash at some pot smoking hippie kayak fest. All those hippies sat around the fire and hugged all night. They talked about Tonys' new helmet. They talked about patchouli. They listened to Widespread Panic....And the ladies gave out free hippie love!

Thanks for the invite Tony....I had a blast.

The way to crash

Clearly, this driver took the "Lone Star Collision" sign just a bit too literally. Then again, if you're going to crash your car into a building, why not do it at an auto repair shop? Now you don't have to worry about towing it.

This hilarious photo comes from Colleyville, Texas where a GMC Yukon slammed into a sedan, rolled over, and slid on its roof until it experienced a collision with the outer wall of Lone Star Collision. MyFoxDFW reports that no one was seriously injured or killed.

Police say they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, and the Yukon's unnamed driver has at least one prior DUI conviction.

Lone Star Collision's owner Jennifer Lapier told the TV station she was stunned by the crash.

Business was back open Thursday, but slow, given the gaping hole. Lapier says she never would have imagined her collision repair shop would be the scene of an accident.

"It is ironic that they did crash into a building that was a collision center," said Lapier. "Why not a donut shop?"

Barber Motorcycle Museum

Guinness makes it official: Birmingham's Barber Motorsports Park has the world's largest motorcycle museum

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – It's official: Birmingham is home to the world's largest motorcycle museum.

Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum now holds that title, according to Guinness World Records.

Officials made the announcement Friday at Barber Motorsports Park, where the museum is located, amid the opening activities for this weekend's Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, an event that is in its fifth year at the 830-acre racing venue.

But they wanted something to back up that claim, so they sought Guinness certification.

While the museum's new title means a lot to Barber and the people who helped him build it, he hopes it means the most to Birmingham.

"It's got to bring some positive vibes to the city," said the former dairy magnate and real estate developer. "I want to use it as a tool to help bring more people to Birmingham."

The Barber museum and park already are doing their part in that area. Last year alone, they drew 270,000 visitors, including more than 3,000 museum visitors who hailed from other countries.

According to the official Guinness record, the museum houses the world's largest collection of vintage and contemporary motorcycles, with 1,398 unique exhibits.

The five-story glass, steel and concrete structure features eye-catching displays of motorcycle towers and machines suspended from walls. The whole place has a cosmopolitan feel, as there are exhibits from more than 100 countries.

The museum also has a collection of about 60 Lotus race cars.

Barber said he never imagined the venue would grow to what it is today.

In addition to the museum, the park features a 16-turn, 2.38-mile road racing track and draws auto and motorcycle races, conventions and festivals throughout the year. It's also home to the Porsche Sport Driving School, and a number of automakers have chosen the park's rolling green landscape as the backdrop for new vehicle debuts.

Barber, who has been collecting motorcycles for 25 years, started the museum in a warehouse on Southside before the current location opened in 2003.

The museum has been working on the Guinness certification for about six months and followed an extensive process that required photos and documentation of each exhibit, said Don Erwin, vice president of corporate development for Barber Companies.

"Once we dug into this, we found out it was serious business," he said.

This is a new record category, according to Sara Wilcox, a spokeswoman for Guinness World Records North America Inc.

"Guinness World Records is always open to new record categories and we are happy to approve this achievement," she said.

Barber says he doesn't play favorites when it comes to his motorcycles: "You know you do not have a favorite child."

But highlights of the collection include those driven by motorcycle and auto racing world champion John Surtees, as well as billionaire investor Jim Rogers, who was raised in Demopolis and made his own mark in the Guinness World Record books for transcontinental motorcycle travel.

"Most are connected to personalities," Barber said of the motorcycles. "And they have their own personalities and a story to tell."

He said he enjoys walking through the museum when it's full of visitors, and he gets to meet people from far-flung places. But he also likes the quiet times there.

"If you come early in the morning or late in the evening, these machines will talk to you, they'll tell you a little about themselves," Barber said. "Particularly the world champion bikes...you'll walk by and feel the vibe and the energy of where they've been."

World’s Most Amazing Bike Helmets that you want to wear now

There are huge numbers of people in the world who are fond of beautiful sports bikes. But there is not the lack of helmet lovers who likes the terrible helmets. Terrible helmets are not made for the purpose of safety only, but it looks make it more appreciable. We are here displaying some arrogant horrible helmets that will attract the beholder.

1. Skull Motorcycle Helmet – This helmet is customizing motorcycle helmet with the face of a skull, laughing and showing its teeth. Its glass is covering the nose and eyes part that makes it scarier and giving it the exact look of a previous age skull with broad jaw.

2. Cobra Commander motorcycle Helmet – This helmet is customized to the face of cobra. Its head is much stylish with the curves like cobra’s head. Its glass is like the face of alien that make it scarier. Overall it is giving a stylish appeal.

3. For-stinger Motorcycle Helmet – For-stinger Helmet is almost same like an ordinary helmet but what make it scary? It is having a big jaw when the helmet glass uncovers the face. It looks like our face is stuck in the mouth of a big anaconda. This is the main feature of this helmet.
4. Medieval helmets – Medieval helmet is among the helmets which are customized as the most antique head covers that were used by warriors in medieval time. It is exactly the same as the helmets used by warriors. It is having the eyes from where the wearer can see. It is having the nose that protects from any kind of accident. It is a solid helmet with face structure. There is no glass over the helmet.

5. Batman Motorcycle Helmet – This helmet is like the face of batman with the horns as same as the horns used to wear by batman. The glass is full black so that the face of the wearer is not visible. It appears less scary but it is eye-catchy. It can be more lovable to the helmet lovers.

motorcycle masks

Ugh. Another motorcycle masks post. Just what we wanted, NOT! And while we're at it, what's with the jeans kids wear these days? And why doesn't anyone know how to drive? And would it kill you to pick up the phone once in a while? Look, we'll level with you. We're in a bit of a grumpy mood. So today, we're just stomping some random motorcycle pictures together and calling it a post. Feed our bummer!

Also, although I know this has nothing to do with motorcycle masks, but aren't Kids' books great! They're like grown-up books with fewer of the boring parts (the words) and more of the good stuff (pictures)! But it seems like there's always some some movie producer or artist who wants to gut a children's book just to make a little bit of money. Well, for those guys, we've got 7 simple words: "How do we get in on that?

Little Natzi's Seek Changes in Alaska Motorcycle Helmet Laws

EAGLE RIVER -
If eighth graders at the Anchorage School District's Gruening Middle School have their way, everyone who rides a motorcycle will have to wear a motorcycle helmet. While some say it's not necessary, the students say all you have to do is look at the numbers.

Every spring, many Alaskans who own motorcycles look forward to their first ride of the year: getting on their bikes and taking them out to enjoy the Last Frontier.

Anchorage School District students at Gruening want people to experience those rides for a long time to come -- and as part of their Project Citizen class, they want to change state law to make everyone wear a motorcycle helmet.

"You can still do all the same stuff and be safe at the same time," said class member Alex Oleniczak. "Why would you risk just dying just to not wear a motorcycle helmet?"

The students say knowing that 80 percent of Alaska's motorcycle accidents are fatal is a big motivator.

"We see people die from this all the time and it changes their lives -- you can't take that back," said eighth grader Hailey Walser.

The students' initiative is more than just talk. They have started a petition, written letters to Anchorage Police Department Chief Mark Mew and Mayor Dan Sullivan, and even spoken before the Anchorage Assembly.

To hear all perspectives on the issue, students also invited one of Alaska's premier bike shops -- Spenard-based dealer House of Harley-Davidson -- to be part of the discussion, despite disagreements on the question at hand.

"There's a lot of things that impact motorcycle safety a lot more than helmets do," said House of Harley-Davidson owner Dia Matteson.

Matteson, an avid rider for the last 11 years, stresses the importance of rider training.

"I've ridden here to Milwaukee, Wisconsin twice down the Alcan (Highway)," Matteson said. "Really it's just riding within your ability -- even if you ride a really fast bike, if you are not trained and capable of riding it, you shouldn't take it above your skill level."

Students are taking Matteson's information in, in service of their goal to make sure riders are safer on the roads.

"We are just trying to make it easier so there's less mistakes and less pain," Walser said.

The students' push to change the helmet law might even take them to the state Legislature in Juneau.

While current state law makes wearing motorcycle helmets optional for people over 19 years old, experts say driver awareness and proper training are keys to keep people safe.

April is Check Your Helmet Month

for some strange reason April is “Check Your Helmet” month and a great time to heed this head-saving advice: A helmet can look shiny and new, but if it’s 3-5 years old or has suffered a single impact, it’s ready for retirement.

Here's some helpful motorcycle helmet industry guidelines to go by.

    • Helmet manufacturers recommend replacing your helmet every 3 to 5 years, depending on use, to ensure optimal helmet performance.

    • Over time, UV rays, internal adhesive and component aging can deteriorate a helmet’s protective qualities.

    • Exposure to gasoline, insect repellent, cleaning fluids, exhaust fumes and excessive heat can degrade helmet materials.

    • If a motorcycle helmet has been dropped or suffered an impact, it should be replaced immediately.

    • A motorcycle helmet is designed for only one impact, even a small one. An impact may fracture its outer shell as well as compress the inner liner, neither of which may be visible.

Iron Horse Helmets offers a stylish selection of DOT approved helmets that are designed to protect your valuable assets while maintaining your bad-ass moto persona. A broad range of styles, prices and materials for men and women are available now!

    Tracking after a year?

Robert write us with "Hello, i'm wondering if you please could check where my orders gone? The order status on your website says shipped and it's been so for a year now. I still haven't received any items from you and i haven't received any message from the Swedish custom service as I should if it had been stopped in customs. The only logical reason for this must be that the items still are in the US. So please check again where it could be."

Robert, please understand that we are not able to track any item after a year.  Your order was over 400 days ago!  I wish you would of told us this problem sooner, like after 20 days or something!

    Motorcycle Helmet Concept

Have you ever heard of the website Beta Brand

Basically, it is crowd sourcing clothing.  It is really a great idea and a great website.  Beta Brand has mastered it and they are kind of a pioneer in their industry.

Iron Horse Helmets is a little jealous of the Beta Brand concept and we are thinking about crowd sourcing on our own.

So what do you think?  Would you buy this concept motorcycle helmet if it had a visor and covered the whole face?

Please e-mail us and let us know if you are in!

Winnie the Pooh gets a ticket

(CBS) HUNTINGTON BEACH - Winnie the Pooh gets a traffic ticket. Perhaps we should add that adventure to author A.A. Milne's collection about the lovable bear after a report by CBS Los Angeles that a man in a "Pooh" body suit got stopped by police in Huntington Beach, Calif., and cited for having expired tags.

    Boo-hoo Pooh.

The "bear" was stopped Sunday by an Officer Baker, according to the police department's Facebook page.

The post about the encounter noted that after getting a fix-it ticket, Pooh left "with his honey pot."

As of 6 p.m. Monday, the post had more than 760 likes - although some Huntington Beach residents took umbrage at "Poor Pooh" being stopped.

To the resident who posted, "Pooh is a friend of mine. He didn't deserve a ticket," the police shot back, "When you see someone putting on his Big Boots, you can be pretty sure that an Adventure is going to happen," A.A. Milne, author "Winnie-The-Pooh."

    Unbearable, yes?

Why does Debra Love Her German Chrome Motorcycle Helmet?

No, not because it was the best Christmas gift she has ever received, it is because it matched her chrome lip ring perfectly.

Is a earring in your lip called a lip ring?  I'm not sure but it makes sense.

    Motorcycle Helmet question

guys, alright I promise I am not asking for a DOT helmet that looks like a novelty helmet, so please don't freak out on me yet, lol. I live in IL so I don't need to wear one, but I want to. However, if it looks stupid I just end up making excuses not to. But then again I don't want to bother wearing one if it's not doing anything either. So my 2 questions would be:

    1) which of the novelty helmets offer the best protection? Again, I don't need DOT, just want to know if you feel any will protect you better than the majority of the novelty helmets or all they all equally shitty protection wise? I tend to prefer the german style.

    2) Which of the DOT bulky helmets is the least bulky and mushroom like? Just figured maybe they have made some that are a little better looking now-a-days. Again I prefer the german style if possible.

I guess I am just looking for that happy medium for now if possible, or is it just all or nothing? Money isn't an issue. Thanks bro, hopefully this question is a little different then the other one you get every day

I love the question and you could not have asked in a better way.
slimmest DOT is the: http://www.ironhorsehelmets.com/dot-carbon-fiber-look-shorty-motorcycle-helmet/ (you will still look goofy in it)

Safest Novelty is the : http://www.ironhorsehelmets.com/3-4-matte-novelty-motorcycle-helmet/

Oops, Also...You DO NOT want the DOT German!!!!!UGLY
