Motorcycle Helmet schmotorcyclehelmet

Motorcycle Helmet schmotorcyclehelmet… They’re all the same!

Don’t read the specs on this Motorcycle Helmet and try to pretend like you understand, I know you don’t. Honestly, unless you are riding in the Isle of Man TT or your Joey Dunlop, there’s really no difference between HCC and Novelty Motorcycle Helmets (besides the obvious brain pan protection factor) except for one thing..

So what sets this Motorcycle Helmet apart from every other Motorcycle Helmet on the market? Is it the thin shell? The metal quick release?

No, my friends. What sets this Motorcycle Helmet apart is that it is black.

“That’s stupid!” you say! “It doesn’t matter what color a Motorcycle Helmet is! What matters is all that technical crap on the inside!”

But will that thousand dollar Reevu Helmet make you look cooler to all the people in your Monday afternoon Poli Sci lecture? Will that face shield catch the eye of that starbucks barista every morning? I don’t think so.

The truth is that it no longer matters what our Motorcycle Helmet can do. What really matters how you look when they’re doing it.

That’s why we’re offering most of our Motorcycle Helmets in black....the most majestic, aesthetically pleasing, and objectively beautiful color known to the human race.

Or, if you’re a slightly less cool person who’d like a slightly less cool color for your Motorcycle Helmet, we also sell Motorcycle Helmets in some other colors too. There's no accounting for taste.

Motorcycle helmet coffeemaker

It is no secret that I am always looking for something to blog about.  They boss has me make a blog post every day....Do you think this is easy?

But People, don't give me layups!   This morning I received an email asking us if we wanted to carry Motorcycle helmet coffeemakers.

After I died laughing, I passed it around the office and everyone died laughing.  Then we went over to our Keurig and laughed some more.

I have attached the email and pictures to brighten up your day:

Hi, We are promoting custom helmet coffeemakers and thought your company might be interested in our product. We are attending the AIM EXPO in Orlando in a few weeks, but will be in Colorado this coming weekend. If you are interested we could make an appointment to come and discuss our product with you. Please email me or call if you have any questions or would like us to stop in. I'm including some images of a few helmets we've done for Napa Auto Supplies and NGK Sparkplugs. Thanks, and hope to hear from you!

Oh, and to top it all off...The lady emailed me from a Hotmail account!  Who still uses Hotmail?

Omaha police target motorcycle helmet compliance

Omaha Cops need a lot of money.  So, they issued hundreds of tickets during a special summer enforcement effort as they focused on motorcycle helmet compliance.

The Cops looked for motorcyclists who were in violation of the state’s helmet law by either not wearing a helmet or by wearing novelty helmets, police said. Helmets found in violation of the standard were confiscated and the operator cited, they said.

The Omaha Cops conducted 11 operations in all areas of the city. Officers were looking for motor vehicle violations that make situations dangerous for motorcyclists such as failure to yield, speeding, improper lane changes and violating traffic signals. The numbers:

-- 622 total citations issued
-- 5 DUI/alcohol arrests
-- 16 helmet violations
-- 424 speeding violations
-- 5 no motorcycle endorsement
-- 51 restraint violations (seat belt or child restraint)
-- 52 operating during suspension/driver’s license violations
-- 78 registration/insurance violations

The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety provided funding for extra officers to focus on motorcycle helmet compliance.

GoPro Helmet Camera Captures Collision Between a Motorcycle and Fire Truck

One motorcycle rider in California is lucky to be alive — and he has the video to prove it. Jesse Lopez was riding his motorcycle through the Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles, California, when he took a blind turn and crashed straight into an oncoming fire truck, ABC station KABC reported.

The 24-year-old’s collision with a Los Angeles County Fire Department truck was all caught on his GoPro helmet camera.

The dramatic video shows Lopez racing up Glendora Ridge Road behind another biker: He goes around a blind corner, swerves to the left and smashes head-on with the oncoming truck.

The camera spun off his helmet and landed on the ground before his friend grabbed it several minutes later as firefighters tended to Lopez’s injuries.
“When I saw what happened, I got shocked. I was like, ‘Whoa!’” Lopez told KABC.

Lopez has no memory of the April 1 crash and compared seeing the helmet-camera video to watching a movie about someone else, KABC reported.

He had two compound fractures in his left leg and a severely broken arm, but Lopez – and his GoPro – survived the crash. He is still recovering from his injuries nearly three months later.

“Especially head-on, you don’t think many people would survive that. Guess he’s lucky to be alive,” his friend Angelo Guerrero told KABC.

The firefighters were able to radio to a medical helicopter and Lopez was taken to a nearby hospital, KABC reported.

Nobody else was injured in the accident.

State-By-State guide to motorcycle helmet laws

Before you head out on the interstate looking for adventure make sure it isn’t a ticket that comes your way. This guide details the motorcycle helmet laws state by state to help bikers follow the rules. Of course, the safest choice is to always wear a traditional (non-novelty) motorcycle helmet that complies with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218.

Besides getting a ticket for not wearing a helmet in certain states, there is even more incentive—not properly protecting yourself could increase your risk of injury or even death. Just 19 communist states, plus the District of Columbia, have universal motorcycle helmet laws requiring usage despite the fact that studies show that helmets can help reduce your injury risk in a crash. Motorcycle Helmets are about 37 percent effective in preventing deaths and about 67 percent effective in preventing brain injuries from motorcycle crashes.

In states that institute helmets laws, deaths and injuries from motorcycle accidents typically drop. Unfortunately, the opposite also proves true when such laws are repealed. Nearly 100 percent of motorcyclists riding in states with motorcycle helmet laws were wearing them. In states without the helmets laws, helmet use was about 50 percent.

Getting more riders to wear helmets is important: As more motorcyclists have taken to the road over the last few years, rider fatalities have grown even more rapidly especially compared to cars.  In 2012, over 4,900 motorcyclists died on the roads--that is 15 percent of the total highway fatalities and an increase of 33 percent from 2003-2012.

Before embarking on a long-distance ride, check out our list of which states have universal laws requiring helmet use. The best move is to keep things simple and safe: Wear a quality, DOT-approved helmet even if it’s not the law in your state or wherever you are traveling.

Honda recalling street models to inspect, replace starter relay switch

Publish Date: Jul 28, 2015
TORRANCE, Calif. - Honda announced that it is recalling motorcycles from the 2014 through 2016 model years to fix a potential problem with the starter relay switch.

"During assembly of the starter relay switch, sealant may have been applied incorrectly, which could increase resistance across the main fuse, potentially interrupting the motorcycle's battery voltage to the electrical system," the OEM announced on its website. Interruption of battery voltage could cause the engine to either not start or stall while riding. "In an extreme case, the increased resistance at the main fuse could cause the starter relay switch to catch on fire," the OEM said.

Honda is notifying owners. Dealers are asked to inspect the lot number of the starter relay switch and replace it, if necessary.

At press time, NHTSA had not yet issued a recall number (we will update this story when more information becomes available). Honda's campaign ID number for this recall is JS9.

Pink Motorcycle Helmet Mohawk

What Other Riders Are Saying about our Pink Motorcycle Helmet Mohawk...

I got this for 9 year old. The suction cups do make it sit a little high off the helmet and don't look great on the close ups, but from a few feet off, it looks great. The best part is, he can easily switch it between his motocross helmet, his skateboard/bike helmet, and his roller hockey helmet. It's a fun little item for the price.
Dana - April 19, 2014 (Wading River, NY)

Nice quality, easy to install, and it stays on the helmet.
Isaias - January 27, 2014 (yuma, AZ)

Looks awesome
Charles - January 13, 2014 (Las Vegas, NM)

I bought two of them for my kids. I can spot them faster in the woods and the high grass. They attach to the three helmets very well. Just need to wet the suction cups.
Eric - July 11, 2013 (Rochester , PA)

Christmas gift for our 5 yr old son, to use with his dirt bike and 4-wheeler. He loves it! Looks too cool.
Ashley - January 10, 2013 (Wayne, WV)

I put it on my Shoei Rf1000 Diabolic 3 it looks cool, turns heads, people smile and complement me about it.
Belter - August 10, 2012 (Richmond, CA)

love it jett - July 2, 2012 (eureka, CA)

I love the Mohawks bought 8 of them and was so excited to give them to my kids and they would not suction at all to their helmets so I am removing cups and adding Velcro to them which is extra work and makes me feel I should have returned them and ordered the ones with Velcro already on them.
AngelA - June 22, 2012 (Burlington, KY)

Worked great on my Snell Helmet.
Joanne - January 12, 2012 (rexford, NY)

My grand-paw got me a new helmet and mohawk so I could ride with him; I love it, and he said it was a good deal. Top quality, and he would do it again. I'm just 3 so grand-paw had to type this for me; I just know I love it.
Maliki - November 17, 2011 (Morganfield, KY)

The Mohawk doesn’t fit in my helmet, because of the air vents, but because I really like it, I cut it to fit!!
Edgar - November 4, 2011 (Chula Vista, CA)

Makes you very noticeable. Withstood speeds up to 175mph. Great product!!
Blake - September 9, 2011 (Orange, CA)
Nice product Mike B. - June 30, 2011 (Martinsburg, PA)

Gets the attention of the girls and the drivers that otherwise might not see you. Put this on a Shoei RF-1100 Hadron, looks great with the helmet decals
Matt - March 29, 2011 (Hill AFB, UT)

This is a pretty cool mohawk.
