Cleaning Your Motorcycle Helmet Face shield

Everyone who rides motorcycles (and wears a motorcycle helmet) will sooner or later need to clean their face shield. This article is about a simple and easy (home made) way to clean yours without a lot of effort, no chemicals, and without scratching the shield either.

Just take a couple of paper towels and get them soaking wet. Then drape the wet towels across your face shield. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes and pull it off. Most of the gunk on your shield will come off with the paper towel, and the rest has been well softened and loosened up so that you can easily wipe it off.

Using a really wet paper towel and waiting is critical. This lubricates and softens up all those bug guts and exoskeletons that get plastered on your face shield. Then when you wipe them off, it does not leave scratch marks or otherwise ruins the visibility through the plastic.

This same approach will work on sunglasses; a windscreen, or any other soft plastic you may need to clean. One caution – do not leave the paper towel on there and just walk away. It will dry on there and you will have a worse mess to deal with scraping the paper pieces off too.

Motorcycle Helmet Exemptions Stall in Missouri Legislature

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Motorcyclists in Missouri will have to keep wearing their helmets for another year.

Lawmakers on Monday removed a provision from a bill that would've allowed people older than 21 who have had their motorcycle license for more than two years to leave the helmet at home.

Riders also would've needed to meet certain insurance requirements to ride without protective headgear.

The measure was removed from a bill in committee after passing the House last month.

Supporters of the proposal say it's a matter of personal freedom to decide whether to wear a helmet. But critics argue it's a matter of safety to protect riders.

Similar measures have passed the House for several years but have met opposition in the Senate.

Custom Face Mask

Why buy something when you can build your own version of it? Sure, it might be more convenient to purchase a neoprene face mask that is already designed out of the box, but that wouldn't be nearly as satisfying as designing your own mask!

Designing a homemade neoprene mask is easy: All you need is (1) a degree in electrical engineering, (2) a thorough understanding of parts manufacture and sourcing, (3) an industrial designer, (4) patience, and (5) several hundred thousand dollars.

We have the coolest new machine.  Why did we buy it?  Because we are men and love toys.

Is Tennessee a helmet state?

How the hell would we know, we are in Alabama?  Actually, we do know! Yes, and Tennessee is one of many states that have passed a so-called “universal” helmet law, which says that anyone riding a motorcycle -- whether as an operator or passenger and regardless of age or riding experience -- must wear a DOT Motorcycle Helmet.
