6D Helmets

6D Helmets awarded utility patent for energy management system

6D Helmets (a brand we have never even heard of) has been awarded utility patent No. 8,955,169 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its proprietary Helmet Omnidirectional Energy Management Systems, commercially referred to as Omni-Directional Suspension, or ODS.....Again, we never heard of it.

Co-founders Bob Weber and Robert Reisinger introduced 6D Helmets to the off-road segment in November 2012. Their ODS technology is a multilayered displaceable liner system which reduces the transfer of angular acceleration energy and low-threshold energy to the brain during crash impacts without compromising high-energy performance.

“I began this project in my garage in early 2011 and shortly thereafter brought in Robert to refine the concept,” said Weber. “In the two years since we introduced our first helmet, we have seen countless instances where our 6D Helmets, equipped with the ODS technology, have provided superior safety performance to riders and cyclists. To finally receive this utility patent only further validates the tireless efforts of the entire 6D Helmets organization in our pursuit of the company’s mission, to improve safety for helmeted athletes throughout the world.”

Weber and Reisinger will continue to expand the 6D Helmet product line for new applications within the motorcycle and bicycle markets, as well as various other sporting activities.

About Iron Horse Helmets

We found the coolest website.  It is a marketing bullshit meter:http://www.sansbullshitsans.com/

We decided to plug our website into the meter.  This is what we put in:

After six years in the Marine Corps, I knew one thing; I was positive that I wanted to be self-employed. Now instead of taking orders from superior officers I am taking orders from my growing customer base and shipping helmets every day.

Iron Horse Helmets supplies a great variety of high-quality motorcycle helmets and is true to its motto...

"It's Not Just Your Helmet, It's Your Image!"

Our comprehensive range of helmets allows us to offer our clients the best possible service at competitive prices. From our long experience in the helmet trade, Iron Horse Helmets can offer expertise and, in many cases, informed advice in the helmet-buying decision. By dedicating ourselves to the needs of the individual helmet buyer, we have developed an understanding and ability to support all levels of business, nationally and internationally.

Iron Horse Helmets close relationship with our suppliers assists us in presenting prompt service at economic prices. We are able to service customers in over forty countries delivering urgent orders within a few working days.

Following our recent move to larger warehousing premises we are able to hold significant stocks of our broad based inventory. Our base in Birmingham, Alabama, is ideally situated to supply our customers throughout the United States and internationally.

A family firm, in the best sense of the word, Iron Horse Helmets has the aim of serving the "true" motorcycle rider. We have grown through dedication to this aim and by applying the same principles to our ever-widening client base.

Personal callers are (almost) always guaranteed a warm welcome.

Here it is after the Bullshit meter:

Legislators introduce bills to allow lane splitting in Texas, Tennessee

AUSTIN, Texas -- Legislators here and in other states have introduced bills to allow lane-splitting, a practice which to date is only allowed in California.

Texas H.B. 813, introduced by state Rep. Sergio Muñoz Jr. (D-Palmview), would allow motorcycle riders to ride between lanes of traffic moving in the same direction, if traffic is traveling 20 mph or slower, and if the motorcyclist is not traveling more than 5 mph faster than other traffic. Lane splitting would be prohibited in school zones and in areas where the posted speed limit is 20 mph or less. And riders and passengers must wear helmets. S.B. 442, introduced by state Sen. Kirk Watson (D-Austin), omits the helmet provision, but restricts lane splitting to limited-access or controlled-access highways.

AMA is also backing H.B. 1102 In Tennessee. Introduced by state Rep. Timothy Hill (R-Blountville), the bill would permit lane splitting when traffic is traveling at 45 mph or less and the motorcyclist does not exceed posted speed limits. Lane splitting would not be permitted in marked school zones when a warning flasher or flashers are in operation.

Efforts to legalize lane-splitting are also afoot in Washington.

The American Motorcyclist Association backs the bills, but objects to helmet requirements, believing adults should be able to choose for themselves. More information on the AMA's position on helmets can be found here.

"Research and evidence suggest that lane splitting may reduce a motorcyclist's risk exposure, which is why the AMA offers conditional support to Texas H.B. 813 and S.B. 442, legislations that would allow lane splitting with the stated restrictions," said Wayne Allard, AMA vice president of government relations.

Motorcycle lane splitting, sometimes also called lane filtering, occurs in many countries throughout the world—particularly in highly urbanized areas of Europe and Asia—but it is largely prohibited in the United States. A 2014 study in California found that motorcyclists engaging in responsible lane splitting were less likely to be rear ended, suffer a head injury or be involved in a fatal crash.

Other potential benefits include an increase in conspicuity because the motorcyclist is moving relative to other traffic; a reduction in motorcyclist fatigue from constant shifting and braking in stop-and-go traffic; a lessening of the risk for engine damage for air-cooled engines; a reduction in motorcyclists' exposure to ambient heat in the summer and car exhaust year-round due to fewer hours spent in traffic.

Getback Whips

Finally.....Finally, Iron Horse Helmets is selling Getback Whips:

Back in the day, you’d see motorcycle riders sporting a get-back whip hanging from their brake or clutch lever. The leather get-back whips were usually made in the motorcycle club colors to display their colors and for club recognition. Get-back whips originally began sometime in the 40’s mostly seen in California. These “old school” accessories are now returning to the motorcycle culture and are becoming very popular across the country. You do not have to belong to a motorcycle club to own one of our handcrafted get-back whips. Measure and choose the length that is right for you from top of lever to your desired length. If you have floorboards you might want to keep it off the floorboard so you don’t step on it, however it’s a personal choice how long you want it.

The getback whips come in lengths 18" to 36" . For an additional $20.00 you can choose from lengths 37" to 50".  The whips can be made with up to two colors, If you don't see the color combination you're looking for you can choose your colors at no extra charge up to 4 colors.  There are 20 plus colors of quality leather to choose from and these whips are made to order.

Color Choices: Black, Bone ,Chrome, White, Red, Royal Blue, Navy Blue, Baby Blue, Turquoise, Teal, Distressed Brown, Canary Yellow, Gold, Harley Orange, Purple, Pink, Kelley Green, Forrest Green, Purple, Burgundy, Mustard Yellow.
